Fun fact: I wore this shirt the day I met my hubby!! I really don't wear it a lot, but it was saved from the give-away pile for sentimental reasons :) I remember he was wearing his cowboy boots and I thought he seemed super tall! So in the spirit of Valentine's Day, I will share the story of how we met :)
We met in my friend's kitchen at a grad party (her parents introduced my parents!). I had just moved back home from college 3 weeks before (I had graduated in December, but was working down there since). We were literally talking about whether or not I was looking for someone and if I was putting myself out there to meet someone. He walked in the kitchen in the middle of this conversation!!
I remember being very conscious of how I was standing in order to seem interested and not closed off (because I usually stand with my arms crossed). And I remember thinking what a firm handshake he had :) I can't stand people with wimpy handshakes! We talked a little bit; mostly about how I'd never been downtown Minneapolis on the bar scene. We left it that night that I would look him up on Facebook if I ever wanted to go out sometime.
I went home and looked him up right away (and was hoping I found the right person!) I debated probably for an hour whether or not I should add him as a friend, but finally did. We chatted on Facebook every night for the next week, and one night he asked for my phone number! (I was super excited!!) He called right away and we set up a dinner date for the next night. And the rest is history!
It's just proof that when it's meant to happen it will happen. I had just moved home a few weeks before (and had actually debated staying for the rest of the summer). Hubby sometimes works an evening shift and he happened to be working a day shift that week. Pretty cool how things happen!!
